Dynamics of Performance Measurement Systems

چکیده
We review the principal agent multi-tasking literature and discuss the relevance of this literature to the implementation of performance measurement in public organizations. Arguably, the most important lesson from the literature is that performance measurement may elicit dysfunctional and unintended responses, also known as gaming responses. We propose an evolutionary model of how organizations manage performance measures when gaming is revealed over time. The model stresses the dynamic nature of the performance measure selection process---a feature that has been overlooked in the literature. We present evidence from a job training program that is consistent with the model and we discuss implications for the selection of performance measures.

Intelligent identification of vehicle’s dynamics based on local model network
This paper proposes an intelligent approach for dynamic identification of the vehicles. The proposed approach is based on the data-driven identification and uses a high-performance local model network (LMN) for estimation of the vehicle’s longitudinal velocity, lateral acceleration and yaw rate. The proposed LMN requires no pre-defined standard vehicle model and uses measurement data to identif...
متن کاملThe Role of Organizational Structure in Designing Performance Measurement Systems
Organizational structure determines the scope of decisions, tasks, responsibilities, goals, perspectives and rewards for achieving results. In recent decades, due to environmental changes and dramatic technological advances, organizational structure has changed from Mechanistic to organic. The purpose of the restructuring is to facilitate the achievement of the organization's goals. Changing st...
متن کاملImprovement of position measurement for 6R robot using magnetic encoder AS5045
Recording the variation of joint angles as a feedback to the control unit is frequent in articulated arms. In this paper, magnetic sensor AS5045, which is a contactless encoder, is employed to measure joint angles of 6R robot and the performance of that is examined. The sensor has a low volume, two digital outputs and provides a high resolution measurement for users; furthermore its zero positi...
متن کاملHow Effectiveness Of Comprehensive Performance Measurement Systems on Manager's Performance Through Modification of Mental Models (Learning Process)
One of the ways to reduce agency costs is to plan for the creation of effective decision-making information by designing appropriate comprehensive performance evaluation systems according to managers' learning process One of the important factors in the processing and classification of information for cognitive learning is mental models that are categorized in two dimensions of mental model co...
متن کاملA Divergence Measure for Combining Super-Efficiency Scores in Performance Measurement of Two-Stage Production Systems
In the conventional data envelopment analysis (DEA) internal sub-processes of the production units are ignored. The current paper develops a network-DEA super-efficiency model to compare the performance of efficient network systems. A new ranking method is developed by aggregating the computed super-efficiency scores with a J-divergence measure. The proposed approach is then applied to evaluate...
متن کاملEvaluating Subunits Importance in Performance Measurement of Network Systems in Data Envelopment Analysis
In conventional DEA models, decision making units (DMUs) are generally assumed as a black-box while the performance of decision making sub-units (DMSUs) and their importance play crucial roles in analyzing the performance of systems which have internal processes. The present paper introduces an ideal network which have efficient processes and next purposes a new approach for evaluating importa...
